A Blessing Undeserved

Naked I came out of my mother's womb, and naked shall I return thither, the Lord gave and the Lord hath taken away, blessed be the name of the Lord Job 1:21

Worldly goods are blessings given to us by God. Yet at the same time it is also God who removes blessings.

Job, a blameless and upright man, was blessed by God with seven sons, three daughters, 7000 sheep, 3000 camels and 500 teams of oxen. He was the richest man in the region. Yet Job never believed his wealth was because he deserved it, rather he knew it was a gift from his Holy God.

God allowed Satan to attack Job's life in more ways than one. Thousands of his flocks were lost, all of his children died and his body became covered in boils and sores. But Job did not sin, nor did he sway in his faith to God. He never questioned the life he had been given. He was faithful and he blessed the name of the Lord.

Whatever hardships we may face, may we be found faithful to bless the name of the Lord.
